Faith Church History

Faith Church began as a vibrant Christian outreach to the South Holland, Illinois community in 1964. The Lord blessed and Faith grew. People found it a great place to raise their families.

The church had an ongoing heart to reach the community for Jesus, but the “how” was no longer clear. Before anyone noticed, Faith slipped from mission-mode into maintenance-mode.

Everything changed in 1990 when God led a new pastor with a fresh vision to lead Faith. Pastor Bob Bouwer challenged the congregation and led us through a difficult “U-Turn process.” Faith began to develop the tools necessary to become once again a bright spiritual light to South Holland and beyond. Sunday morning became culturally relevant to a lost and seeking community. The children’s ministry allowed Faith to become a destination for young families.

The Lord blessed and the congregation relocated to a larger facility in 2003. Today, God continues to use Faith Church to reach people who are disconnected from God. Worship services with multiple times and locations are pointing people to Jesus throughout northwest Indiana and the south Chicago suburbs.

The leadership of Faith is now answering the call to be a teaching church - to share what we’ve learned along our way. U-Turn Ministries has been created not to create Faith Church clones, but to share what we’ve learned and provide space for the Holy Spirit to guide leaders as they become the church God has called them to be for their unique communities.

The Ravines

U-Turn Ministries not only has a strong desire to help churches turn around, we also desire to help marriages turn around… all to the Glory of God. The Ravines is a ministry of U Turn Church Ministries, Inc. that is available to help marriages from any church. The Ravines is a Christian ministry whose focus is the restoration, healing and strengthening of the marriages of Christian couples. We believe that marriages can be healed, whether in immediate crisis or in need of spiritual or emotional strengthening. It is our Ministry’s desire to see all Christian couples find renewal in their marriage through the power of Christ.
