Frequently Asked Questions: The Momentum Conference
1. Who is this event for?
If you are a leader or key influencer at your church, this event is for you. Regardless of the size or life cycle of your church, whether you are a pastor, lay leader, ministry leader, or volunteer, Momentum is meant to help you create and maintain energy and growth in your church community. The Momentum Conference is about action and progress. You are the energy that creates change in your church: your ideas, your insights, your vision, your passion. This event is meant to be a catalyst, providing a space for your ministry team to be united and inspired by the Holy Spirit, to better serve your congregation and your community.
2. How does Momentum differ from previous U-Turn events?
In the past, U-Turn Ministries has been asked to share about Faith Church's "U-Turn"; how we grew from a traditional church of 300 to a church of 4,000 with three off-campus multi-sites. This year, with the help of our presenters, U-Turn will serve churches who desire renewal (or a "U-Turn") in addition to those that are considering this new movement of multi-sites. It's no longer Faith Church's story, but our story, the "big C" Church; our collective efforts to grow and learn as the body of Christ to further His kingdom. At Momentum, the main sessions will provide practical information to any church leader, while breakout sessions will go deeper into the challenges of various ministry settings. In 2012, more than ever before, we want each breakout to offer very hands on, nuts and bolts principles that you can put into practice when you return home. While the scope of this event has broadened, our mission remains the same; to partner with churches and their leaders, encouraging them to become what God wants them to be and equipping them to effectively serve the next generation.
3. What are some of the topics that will be covered within Momentum in 2012?
Session topics include "Talkable" (what is your church doing that is worth talking about in your community?), "Reachable" (how is every ministry capitalizing on their outreach opportunities?), "Unchangeable" (how can we reach people with very different backgrounds using the same gospel message?), "Applicable" (how can you appy leadership strategies and business-oriented productivity and efficiency principles to your church?)...
4. How can I get the lowest priced registration fee?
Super Early Bird pricing is available January 27. Future, increased rates offer discounts to groups of 5 or more. Plan to register with your U-Turn team!
5. What attire do people wear at this event?
Business casual.
6. Are there opportunities to network with other churches?
Yes! Please plan to use the break and lunch times to meet other church leaders from across the country! Also, we're offering a downtown Chicago trip on Monday night this year that would provide additional time to connect with others. This trip was made possible by Church Solutions.
7. What does the Monday night trip include?
After the conference ends on Monday, a coach bus will pick you up at the main entrance of Faith Church at 5pm. You can decide where you would like to be dropped off, at either Navy Pier or Water Tower Place. Navy Pier offers various attractions such as boat tours, the IMAX Theater, The Chicago Shakespeare Theater, numerous dining options, ferris wheel and other attractions. Water Tower Place is for the shopping enthusiast or those who wish to further explore Michigan avenue. There are endless dining options, carriage rides, and the John Hancock Observatory at this drop off location. The bus will pick you up approximately 2.5-3 hours after you were dropped off, to ensure your return to Faith Church by 10pm. Those taking advantage of this opportunity may want to plan on checking into their hotels during the lunch break on Monday. Pre-registration is required to ensure your place on the bus and costs only $14, less than the cost of parking your car. Please visit our registration page by Clicking Here.
